NHS OFFERED ACCURATE SUPPORT IN SCALES ALERT
A leading scales company has offered to forfeit profit margins to provide the NHS with highly accurate weighing equipment at a 50% discount.
Highlighting the inadequate equipment currently available, this support comes at a time when The Department of Health has issued an alert calling for action to ensure that all scales which are used in healthcare settings to inform patients’ medication dosage, treatment or diagnosis must be checked by June 20th.
Kim Ramessa from international health monitoring company, Tanita explained:
“As one of the leading providers of highly accurate scales to both healthcare professionals and consumers, we are well placed to support this alert and understand that while recourses may be limited, faulty or inappropriate weighing equipment can be life threatening.”
Last month, trading standards officers began the National Medical Weighing Project after a report from LCORS (local authority co-ordinating standards) highlighted the potential dangers of inconsistent or inadequate scales.
Kim Ramessa continued: “We are committed to positive health promotion and by supporting the National Medical Weighing Project it allows us to raise awareness of how vital it is that the appropriate medical equipment is available.”
